3 Months In - 2008 So Far

For me personally, 2008 has been a hell of a year and it's only March. With so many changes, I am very scared and nervous of what may come the rest of the year. I think the most shocking of these changes has to be that my grandfather passed away. It's been 3 weeks since it happened and it still hasn't really sunk in. There are so many things that he taught me that. Basic simple things that no matter what, just stay with you. Simple as fishing. Every time I have gone fishing, since I learned how to fish, Pop's been there, giving pointers the whole way. Bicycling. I bicycled everywhere when I was a kid and every time I needed a new chain, a new tire, or a new inner tube, Pop was there fixing, changing, replacing it. Most car questions or problems I had, I came to Pop with. In high school it became somewhat of a trade. Technical questions, involving the satellite TV I'd be more than happy to help. Then it seemed like a fair trade but looking back it wasn't. There was/is no way I could repay Pop for anything. Rest in Peace Pop.

In addition to losing my girlfriend of 2 years (which I don't/won't dwell on) and losing my job (which was a blessing in disguise), I've finally switched to Linux. That is the one and only good change yet. I am using openSUSE 10.3 Gnome DE on a HP Pavilion dv6000. It only has a few bugs but overall is incredibly better than Vista. Fast, simple, safe and endlessly customisable. I will put a post in later about it and hopefully convince some people to make the switch. I gotta go to work so until then, peace
